Reading back through the comments, I can't say that I find this "too alluring" --which sort of suggests "inappropriate" in certain contexts. If it was rotated 90 degrees cw it would look like she was standing with her back against a wall --would that change the interpretation? I won't deny that some people might interpret it as "alluring," but doesn't such an interpretation seem rather sexist to you? Would the image be alluring if the subject was a guy? Wouldn't a guy be interpreted as "resting" or "relaxing," or just being "cool?" It seems to me that the notion that a female in this pose is alluring is based on the very sexist notion that a female on her back has a purely sexual connotation; and while at the same time I recognize that interpretation probably exists for some, I also find it rather sad and disturbing.

I was going to comment about how I like Beagles. I wish I hadn't read your reply to danthro. Now I feel like the cop in National Lampoon's Vacation. But instead of dragging behind the car in this case, I'd want to lock them up in a cage all day and shock them whenever they open their mouths. It really troubles me when people abuse animals this way, especially as it is often in a situation like you describe, where nothing can really be done about it. Dogs are social animals so leaving one by himself in a cage is actually quite cruel --but please don't give them the idea that they need another dog. They should be on a list of people now allowed to have a dog.

you're right. i feel bad for him too. i think most of the time with dogs that bark a lot or charge at people it's because their owners don't take proper care of them, walk them long enough, etc. people think it's nice to have a soft cute dog but if they don't have the time or discipline to do the work they're doing everyone a disservice.

awww. that is very cute. excellent composition, framing, color, detail, dof, (and light of course). he does look sad. but as someone who was once charged at by 5 dogs in a one-month period while attempting to walk in my own neighborhood, one of which would have knocked me over backwards head first into cement if i hadn't stepped back in time, i am very glad for the fences. in my experience, all dog owners think their dog is the friendly kind. anyway... great shot!

I see your branching out. I just got back into town and I see you are doing some more wonderful portraits too. At least you are consistant. I hope you have been well. I'll only be here for a day or two but will check out your posts while I am.
Take care.
