Baby Brownie Special

This belongs to my parents. I was over at their house recently to photograph the guitar and wondered what else I could photograph. I'm not sure who this originally belonged to, but I remember playing with this as a child.

The Baby Brownie Special was introduced in September 1939 by the Eastman Kodak Company, and was discontinued by 1954. The original price was $1.25.

Can't believe the price! As a kid I would have died for a Brownie. My mom had some kind of a box view camera, but I don't think it was a kodak. You had hold it down and look into a curved lens viewscreen to take a pic.

@Will: You know, I'm not sure. I may have to look into it.
The camera takes 127 film. According to the frugalphotographer.com, Kodak first introduced 127 film back in 1912, and production was discontinued (along with many other manufacturers) by 1995. Apparently there are only two main US sources that continue to carry many discontinued film sizes, including the 127 film. One company is based out of Chicago, Central Camera, while the other one is out of NY, Film for Classics. Apparently there are only a small handful of labs in the US that will process the film.

Really nice shot Melissa; I like the composition and the soft focus. I used to collect old cameras like this but I decided to get rid of all the clutter in my life this year!
