Another one of my personal favorites. I really love the mood of this.
We will be traveling to Memphis, TN in May to see my stepson graduate from high school. Can't wait to see him again. Very excited about seeing Memphis...never been there before. Aside from Graceland, any other suggestions/recommendations of things to see...or places to eat? Thanks in advance.
Great one! Similar to one of your early posts I really liked as well, like this one equally. Great everything. You are very good with light and portraits.

@danthro: Thank you very, very much for the encouraging words. I really appreciate them. When we stepped into this room, I was so taken with the light; I knew it was special. Thank you again.
A cool shot with interesting light and some mystery.

@Sujit Sudhi: Thank you, Sujit. :)
You have very photogenic step-children. Great, gritty background. Great portrait. I love the ribs at Charlie Vergo's Rendezvous Restaurant (355 N Main St.)…just google – ribs Memphis and you'll have a map. Memphis in May…should be beautiful…not too hot yet!

@Ron: Thanks for the info. We love ribs, so we'll definitely check it out. :)
Thanks for the compliment. I wished I could say they got that trait from me. ;)

@Will: Thanks, Will. Since I don't own a laptop, I need to start stocking up on memory cards. ;)
Lighting and colors are great here - lots of texture and depth to this one. I've been to Memphis a while ago but don't recall what I did aside from the main street that is a kind of mini French Quarter. I remember there was a really amazing street band performing - I bought the guys CD but don't have it at the moment. Might try posting in the forum and see if anyone is from around there. One thing I'd like to do is set up an Aminus3 travel exchange where people visiting places can get info from locals about placing to go, people to see and where to take good photos. I keep meaning to post in the forum on my neighborhood in Brussels but have not had a chance yet.
@Jason Kravitz: Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and for the comment. I really appreciate it. I think a travel exchange is an excellent idea. Thanks again!

@pedro alexandre: I find your comment really interesting. Have to tell you though, I never really thought that I'd enjoy portraits either. In the beginning, it gave me something/someone to photograph while I was learning my camera. Now I enjoy portraits as much, if not slightly more than nature images...can't explain why.
I absolutely struggle at landscapes, which is unfortunate because I love landscape images. That is why I admire photographers like you who have been blessed with such an amazing gift.
Thanks for the comment.
Never been to memphis so no suggestions from me. I loke the finish on this portrait - was it LAB processing?

@drphoto: No LAB mode on this. Honestly, all I did to this was run high pass sharpen to it, slight levels adjustment, and a curve adjustment to add a bit of contrast. Oh, and I added a very slight vignette. that's it. :)
