I really like how you handled the colors in a muted way here and used DOF effectively to bisect the composition to give us two backgrounds for the flowers. Very well done.

Brilliant photo with a very high saturation. Was the situation like this or is it due to PS postprocessings?

@Wysterior: No, the original didn't have as much "punch" to it. In PS, I copied the background layer, added the gaussian blur filter, changed the blend mode to "soft light", then adjusted the master opacity to my liking. It's a simple technique, but sometimes it really adds enough contrast to really make it pop.

My first impression is that it is very painter-like ... rich, deep strokes to form the backdrop and then more delicate, gentle strokes to convey the beauty of the light. I'm particularly drawn to the blush of pink. It really could pass for the colors of spring!

beautiful shot. agree with Graham that it's a bit like a painting, not as sharp as some of your other photos. i love the light (i'm sure that comes as great surprise to you ;) ) and the colors and DOF. oh, great composition too, especially for a flower shot!
