Hooray for SpringPosted by Melissa W. (Warsaw, Indiana, United States) on 15 April 2008 in Plant & Nature. To me, this little guy resembles a stick figure with his arms stretched out as if to say, "Hooray for Spring!"

paulski from Muncie, IN, United Statesinteresting, but i think a vertical crop might have been stronger here... 15 Apr 2008 3:12pm @paulski: Good suggestion...I'll have to try it. danthro from Suburbia, United Statesjust aesthetically i think i liked some of the earlier ones of these better, but i really like your description/explanation of this one. made me smile. :) 15 Apr 2008 7:50pm @danthro: Honestly, this isn't one of my favorites; although I do like the tones in the background. I uploaded this because I was pressed for time and didn't know what to post. ;) But in the end, I thought it was kinda cute...so there ya go. :) MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWonderful focus on this shot Melissa and yes hooray for spring :) 15 Apr 2008 8:10pm Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesGreat description, Melissa, and a nice capture with that 200 mm! Everything around here is in full-blown spring mode ... I think we (St. Louis) may be a couple of weeks ahead of you there in northern Indiana. 15 Apr 2008 8:28pm @Ron: The more I use this lens, the more I'm loving it (as I'm sure you're finding out). ;) I haven't even used my 50mm in two weeks; it's probably feeling a bit jealous. You're right, we don't normally see full-blown blooms until the first week of May...can't wait. Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaYeah does look like a stick figure. I like this shot as it has a happy feel and a sense of hope/anticipation that spring brings. (said he going into winter) 15 Apr 2008 8:51pm Jen from Alpharetta, United StatesI like it!!!! 15 Apr 2008 10:27pm Will from Gainesville, United Statesgreat composition....i love the quality of the bokeh:) 16 Apr 2008 1:50am Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesI like the delicate nature and the angles of this twig. Nicely done. 16 Apr 2008 4:53pm GJC from Kyoto, JapanActually, I like this quite a bit. The DOF is well done to create a soft, complementary screen of color for the greens and I like the framing as well, particularly the interaction between the curve and the straight of the two branches. 17 Apr 2008 12:24pm @Twelvebit: cute. ;) Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesIt occurs to me we may not be talking about the same part of the image. I was referring to the face in the foreground near the bottom, and appears to be looking up. 17 Apr 2008 7:08pm @Twelvebit: Uh...nope that wasn't where I was looking. lol You mean that gray thingy? Where I was looking (and I'm not telling), I thought "wellll, I guess if you look hard enough I could see where that might be considered a face." Anyway, for some reason your original comment tickled me...a face with a big nose was the last thing I expected anyone to see. What can I say, I'm easily amused. drphoto from Newcastle upon Tyne, United KingdomI can see the big nosed face =D) ButI can't see his eyes! Anyway, nice composition and DOF field here, and I like how you have 'pesonified' your subject =D) ut I do feel it could have been a little brighter; it seems a bit dark for spring... Dan 18 Apr 2008 4:04pm @amy: Thank you very much, Amy. :) |
