Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesGreat DOF and interesting subject, here, Mellisa. Your shot makes a metaphoric statement about our (American) cultural embrace of death ... first it is very real and vivid as we lay a loved one to rest and then it becomes less and less vivid and more a faded memory. I think a fair amount about death in my line of work ... 16 Apr 2008 10:02am @Ron: I really enjoyed your comment, Ron. As a coronary intensive care nurse, death is an unavoidable reality of my job (no matter how hard we try to prevent it). Watching families lose a loved one and supporting them through their initial loss never gets easier... MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWonderful light and dof in this shot Melissa. I like Ron's interpretation of it too. 16 Apr 2008 10:07am paulski from Muncie, IN, United Stateswow; excellent. love the spacing between the posts; excellent perspective, and a great eye. the lighting is exquisite, the DoF is perfect; love the bokeh. this is a really great capture. congrats! 16 Apr 2008 12:55pm Mcwilder from Greenbelt, MD, United StatesI agree with Ron's comments but as you have presented - while the memories fade, there is still a slight, hazy memory that lasts. I admire you for the work that you do as a nurse. 16 Apr 2008 2:55pm @Mcwilder: Thank you very much, Mcwilder, for taking the time to stop by. Your comment is very much appreciated. Thank you. Observing from Chester, United KingdomGreat shot there Melissa, I like the deminishig focus, 16 Apr 2008 4:05pm Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesNice! I like the dof. The white shapes in the background add interest. I've long admired iron fencing, but have never tried photographing it. 16 Apr 2008 4:52pm standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceGreat perspective and DOF exercise here! Well done. 16 Apr 2008 7:42pm Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaI really like this shot, just brilliant. 16 Apr 2008 8:04pm Gary from Cochise County, United StatesI just got back and I see you have been busy making more great images over the last few days. 16 Apr 2008 10:26pm @Gary: Oh-no! ;) Some habits are just so hard to break. danthro from Suburbia, United Statesfun shot! cool composition, and great DOF!! just one question--is there ever bad light in Melissa's world? 17 Apr 2008 12:04am @danthro: Of course there is, but I just keep those for myself. ;) Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesNice DOF work. I like the repeating, fading patterns. 17 Apr 2008 12:17am @Viewfinder: Thanks, VF. :) Will from Gainesville, United Stateswow...awesome shot...love the color and bokeh...what lens? 17 Apr 2008 1:50am @Will: Thanks, Will. The lens is the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM. I've only had it for a few weeks; I used it to shoot my car series. So far, I'm really liking the lens. I hated to spend that kind of money, but now I'm glad I did. chakrapani from Hyderabad, IndiaHi Melissa ! . Great shot . nice depth. the green background is pleasing . Perhaps you can crop it at an angle so that the tips of the posts are parallel to the top edge. And yeah 17 Apr 2008 2:40am @chakrapani: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it a try. :) GJC from Kyoto, JapanBeautifully seen. The repetition is very pleasing, and then the white in the background contrasts beautifully with the black. 17 Apr 2008 12:23pm Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South AfricaAwesome perspective Melissa - love it!
