Love lighthouses and this is an excellent composition! Love the contrasts and the lighting

@Jen: Thanks so much, Jen.
I really like the way you've framed this and focused in on the lighthouse ... the tones are just perfect (in my humble estimation ... and I like the room you've given the sky. I do think I prefer this one over yesterday's selection (but give me a few minutes and that might change!). I haven't responded to your email from yesterday ... but I will ... I haven't used LR, but I can see that you're doing some great work with it.

@Ron: Thank you very much, Ron. I like this one better than yesterday's as well...I like the mood and tones of this one; it almost resembles a painting (at least to me). Don't worry about emailing me back; I know you're busy. :) Take care.
The hues n colours are mesmerising n so is the incredible shot!

beautiful. like this even better than yesterdays. the framing emphasizes the lighthouse more, but i think the main reason is that there's more yellows and it looks warmer. perhaps if i was out in the hot sun and not in a freezing air conditioned room right now my perspective would be different ;)

Lovely shot, I prefer yesterdays shot, as the poles leading to the lighhouse were great. In this shot, I like the expanse of the sky, as if reminding us what a lighthouse is for. Great work.

Very nice. As to a comparison between yesterday's and today's, I like today's better (which is not to say that yesterday's is poor). I think the reason is because this has more of a feeling of stability. The strong diagonal line of yesterday's made by the pier gives a sense of movement through the image, but a lighthouse is most impressive for being solid, for staying in one place. This composition gives that feeling, particularly because of the effective spacing within the frame. I like the large space for the sky.

Melissa this is a gorgeous shot! The framing, the processing, everything about it. As usual... :-)

Cool location. Can you get out there and into the lighthouse?
30 Apr 2008 10:57am
@Twelvebit: You can walk out there, but I don't think you go into the lighthouse...The only way into it (from what I could tell) is from the walkway above. There are signs posted about saying not to walk out there, but I saw many people disobeying them. I was a good girl and obeyed. ;)
very nice
