It had been a few months since I had done portraits (my last portrait session was with Anthony during Christmas break), so I was a bit nervous. Plus this was the first time I photographed someone other than my immediate family, so that gave me another reason to be worried. But I have to say that I'm very pleased with how these turned out. I can't take all the credit though...it's hard to take a bad photo when you're photographing someone as gorgeous as she is.
Loved her smile.
Nothing to be worried about in this shot. As with yesterday, you got the subject to be relaxed and natural, the mark of a good portrait photographer.

@paulski: Thank you so much. :)
I totally agree with you that it's hard to take a bad photo when you're photographing someone as gorgeous as she is. Last weekend i had a similar photoshoot like yours. It turned out really well. I love this image. Keep up the good work!

Another lovely portrait Melissa, it's nice to see that you choose interesting locations, not just someone against a screen

@Jrask: Thanks, Josh. I actually prefer seeing/doing location shots...I think the person's personality really comes through in those kind of images. Granted, all I've ever done has been on location so I don't know how it would be to do a portrait in studio.
Give yourself some credit -- this IS a great photo because you are an excellent photographer! The fact that your model is cute just makes the job a little easier. LOL

beautiful portrait! like it even better than yesterday's. i think yesterday's had me looking a little less at her and more at how she looked like she was swinging, but this really brings out her beautiful smile. perfect DOF and light.

Beautiful portrait - I've looked at both this and the black and white, and while both are great I prefer the colour version. It kind of enhances the warmth of her smile or something?

You know, I was going to say something about that, but didn't want to sound to critical: in my experience its hard to take bad photos of attractive females if you've mastered the basic technical skills. Not that, aside from my wife, I've managed to accumulate much experience photographing attractive females.

@Twelvebit: Hey now, I do remember seeing your series of the bikini-clad beauties not that long ago. ;)
These are stunning portraits Melissa. Great job, I don't know why you were worried!! :)

@Mandy: From someone who takes amazing portraits, I'll take that compliment any day. :) Believe me, I was worried. :) Thank you so much for the encouragement, Mandy. It's very much appreciated. :)
