Tomorrow will be the end of the senior portrait session. I retouched/processed 18 images in all. She and her mom were thrilled with the images. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy how these turned out. It was great experience, and I definitely learned a lot.
She's got a nice soft glow.

This may be my favorite of the whole shoot ... the one on her back is exceptional (but almost too alluring for a senior portrait) ... in this one I like the natural pose with her hand in her hair. I read about buying the reflector from B&H ... you can really tell that it warms up and evens out the light. Terrific work, Melissa!

@Ron: I would agree that the one on her back is a little too alluring, but I have to say it's still one of my favorite portraits. I have one on her back where she's smiling that's very cute that I might upload later. I think my favorite out of this session is the one where she's laughing (I think it's the one after the tire swing)...I just LOVE the light and her expression.
I broke down and decided to purchase the Westcott Illuminator Reflector Kit 6-in-1 (on sale). I am so glad I finally took the plunge. I am very, very happy with the results. I highly recommend it.
Excellent, excellent photography. I've gone back on several of them and if you are not a professional, you certainly cannot tell. They are beautifully framed and the poses are all so natural looking. Cudos. I am really impressed. I can well imagine that the subjects are very pleased with your work. Way to go Melissa.

@Marion: Thank you so very much, Marion. I've only had my camera since the end of August 2007, and I'm self-taught. So your kind words are very much appreciated. :)
Great and sweet image. Excellent.

Another wonderful shot, Melissa. The branch creating a natural flow is just perfect.

great portrait and composition with the branch. oh and of course the light, but that pretty much goes without saying ;) you should be happy with how these have turned out. a great smile and a great photographer--a winning combination. the 'smile' shots are still my favorites, and i still can't decide color or b&w.

So then, did you take this shoot "on location?"
13 May 2008 3:22pm
@Twelvebit: This was all "on location". She originally wanted a few pictures at her house with her dog (a golden retriever), but her dog recently had surgery and was wearing a cone so we had to scrap that. She was open to ideas, so I took her to a couple of parks in town. The shoot lasted roughly a little over an hour and a half. I told her that once Miss Sadie Mae was healed, I'd be happy to come out and get some pictures of the both of them.
