The C Family - 4

I really like how this one turned out, but there's one thing that really bothers me about this...their little boy's hand. I've tried everything that I know to remove his hand, but it keeps looking too obvious. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

beautiful shot! great capture of the expression on her face. i actually didn't notice the hand until i read your comment but now that i did it sticks out. the main thing i've tried to remove things is the clone stamp in photoshop (use the other bricks to replace the hand with a brick pattern), i'm not too great at it though.

I love this one. I love the light and the texture. I never even noticed the hand until I read the entire description.
I'm going to be in Boston getting some photos of my folks this weekend. I might use this idea if you don't mind. I'm sure mine will turn out horrid haha.

I didn't even notice the hand until I read your commentary...actually it's kind of sweet.
Great shot...the facial expressions are so sweet and loving!

Removing hands is what they do in certain sharia-countries I thought :), but I find it a marvellous series. I find this one and no. 3 the most succeeded ones, despite the hands. At that age children often are not used yet to "do" things such as laying a hand on your knee or put it in your pocket as adults are used to do, I didn't notice your hands-problem until I read about it in your descriptions.

I'm with the other's here I had to look for the hand after reading your commentary, I would be inclined to use the clone stamp too. That said i can get it to work great sometimes but other times it looks messy. Wish I could have been more help :)

@MaryB: I've been tinkering with the image some more. I've tried the patch, healing brush, and clone stamp with different opacities and blend modes...Finally this morning, I tinkered with the image again, but started from scratch. I'll post my results in a couple of days to get everyone's input. To me, it's still noticeable, but maybe to someone who hasn't seen the original, they might not be able to pick it out. I hope. :)

nicely shot. i agree that the hand is a bit distracting; it might be hard to clone out, but an adjustment layer should allow you to severely de-emphasize it.

Very lovely portrait.
You could copy some bricks and lay over the hand. Then delete the parts of the bricks that cover her arm and shirt.

The hand is in a difficult place to be removed. I've sat here for 15 minutes trying to explain to you how I'd go about removing it but it's not easy to write down. If you're struggling I'll have a go at it for you if you like.

It's a lovely portrait you've taken.

Of course, I still notice it, but to someone else who hasn't seen the original, it might be difficult to pick it out. I'll post my revised photo in a couple of days to get people's input.
