Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaGreat family portrait, all the expressions are marvelous especially the two younger girls. 11 Jul 2008 7:29pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomThis is an excellent family portrait, very well composed. 11 Jul 2008 8:42pm danthro from Suburbia, United Statessweet family portrait! well composed and captured (also glad to see the Melissa-style light we all know and love back ;) ). kind of random, but i wonder what you're going to do when you run out of letters or photograph another family whose name starts with 'E' -- guess i'll have to keep watching and find out ;) here's my interpretation/analysis of their expressions: the mom and eldest girl look like they're posing but having fun doing so, the younger daughter on the right side just looks like she's having fun, the dad looks like he's not used to having fun posing, and finally, my favorite, the younger girl on the left--she looks like she's analyzing something on the other side of the camera :) 11 Jul 2008 9:38pm @danthro: Honestly, I felt the "C" family was probably going to be the last...now there's the "E" family. So, who knows... Yeah, privacy, or lack thereof, seems to be such a sensitive topic these days that I just thought it'd be best just to use their last initial. Well, you know, if I have the opportunity to photograph another "E" family I could always use: "The E Family II (not the same family as before)" or "The E Family II (different people)" :P LOVE your analysis of their expressions. I agree with you. When I look at this, I'm drawn to the little girl on the left wondering what she sees or what she's thinking. As always, thanks! :) Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesReally sweet, Melissa ... beautifully composed ... terrific color ... good balance of light ... I bet they'll be thrilled with the results. The only (very minor) distracting element is the eldest daughter's blue feet ... most people probably wont even notice. 11 Jul 2008 11:09pm @Ron: Thank you, Ron. After my last family shoot, I knew I needed to really work on composition and posing people. It's been a real challenge. As far as the blue feet, I think if I had to do over, I would have asked that the girls be barefoot for some of the photos. But then I again, that might have meant more time retouching and cleaning up dirty feet. ;) paulski from Muncie, IN, United Statesgreat family portrait; what beautiful girls. nicely captured... 14 Jul 2008 5:29pm Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomYou've managed to go beyond a family portrait here and portray the bigger meaning. A truly remarkable image. 15 Jul 2008 12:02am @Ronnie 2¢: Wow, I truly wasn't expecting that kind of response. :) As always, thank you very much, Ronnie. |
