Looking for Bunnies

Some of you may recall this image taken of my sister's dog. Well, I'm happy to say that he is now a member of our family. He's been with us for a little over a month now. At first, I wasn't sure how my 8 yr old black lab was going to handle this little guy, but luckily, he's learned to tolerate him so far. ;)

Anyway, we just love this guy. I've been meaning to take some photos of him for a while now, but he doesn't exactly like to sit still (we're still working on that). :)

Wonderful sharp and well lit shot. He's one handsome beagle. He looks a lot better now but perhaps still a little uncertain of his position. I'm not a dog expert, but I think a dog, like a child in a foster home, takes a little while to gain a feeling of belonging and acceptance. I found out the hard way that there are techniques for smoothing the addition of a new dog into the family pack.

wow, i was just admiring the photograph and didn't even recognize him as the same dog, though I certainly remember that shot. he looks much happier and healthier here! glad you convinced your sister to let you take him in. and beautiful detail and tones and colors and light here! his fur looks so soft.

@danthro: His fur is incredibly soft, especially his head and ears. :)

Yeah, the day we got back from Memphis, my sister called and said we could have Harley if we wanted him. So, the next day we picked him up. He still has some puppy in him so he gets into everything (or at least tries to). All-in-all, he's been a pretty good little boy. He's definitely livened things up around here. :)

He is so adorable, Melissa ... and your portrait of him is really terrific. As Mike pointed out, it's razor sharp ... and then I look up and see that you're using the 50 mm ... old reliable. My Lucy (who I had to euthanize this past winter - inoperable liver cancer) was part beagle and her fur was incredibly soft ... I used to refer to her as my velveteen pooch. I'm a real softy when it comes to animals ... I'm so happy to know that this handsome fella has a loving family to care for him. Really a sweet shot, Melissa!

One piece of concentration and alertness. This breed is very much target-oriented which needs much training to obey the boss. I'm sure you train him with love and not with punishment, he is adorable!

@Edward James: Well, I wouldn't say that he was exactly sitting perfect. lol He knows how to sit and stay pretty well now. I was getting ready to take him potty when I noticed how the light was on him. So I grabbed my camera and told him to sit and stay and fired off about 6 shots. I've got some with him looking away from the patio door, down, and so on, but when I saw this I knew this was the keeper. Thanks!
