Taken last evening...I was experimenting with different angles/perspective. I'm also experimenting with treatments. Still not sure what I think about it, but thought I'd upload it anyway.

wow, you're making her look older and very glamorous--bet she loves you for that ;) love these colors, the tones, the DOF with the green grass blurred into little dots, the detail even in her hair, the amazing light and glow to the whole thing. lovely portrait -- makes me wonder what other experiments you didn't post. very well done!

@danthro: I'm making her look older?? lol Now, the glamorous part I'm guilty of. ;) Even without the "glamor" retouching, she looks older than her seventeen years. She's been mistaken for a college student a lot lately, not a high school student. Poor thing. Deep down, I know she loves it.

After I posted this photo, I had her come take a look at it. I asked her what she thought about it, since I was still "iffy" about it. She said, "Oh my gosh! My friends are going to love this!" My response was "oh, geez..."

I have a few more photos to process, but that will have to wait until the first of the week. I had another family photo shoot last evening (the "B" family - so far no repeating initials) ;) so I've been busy processing those images instead.

I feel bad because all I've been posting for awhile have been portraits, but that's all I really been shooting lately. I really haven't had much time to get out and photograph anything else. :(

Wonderful pose and angle. Excellent processing. The catch lights in her eyes really draw you in.

Beautiful portrait, Melissa ... I think the angle works beautifully (may not be the most flattering for some) ... the DOF falls off nicely, but her face is beautifully sharp. The more I look at it the more I like it. That beautiful green bokeh of the grass really provides a nice warm backdrop.

I think she looks good here and that is about all you can ask for in a portrait without a message --for it to show the subject in the best possible light. In my experience, though, the subject doesn't always agree with my evaluation. I've taken photos of my wife where I think she looks great and she herself isn't fond of the way she looks (on the other hand, I don't think I've taken any where she thought she looked good and I didn't).

@Twelvebit: She's probably like most of us...I know I'm much harder and more critical of myself than I am on others (and I can be a little too critical of others, though it's a trait that I'm not exactly proud of). I don't know, maybe it has to do with being a woman in this society or being a first-born (if you believe in that kind of thing).

I like the angle you've used here Melissa it's a great perspective and te colours are nice too, she look s abit unsure of the angle by the look on her face but I think it adds to the chsrm of the shot! :)
