Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaLovely portrait, you've captured the moment perfectly. Nice one. 22 Jul 2008 7:54pm Rags from Plano, United Statesgreat work! Because of your awesome images, I enrolled in the Kelby Training classes. I hope that after taking the classes, my images become as good as yours. 23 Jul 2008 4:33am @Rags: Thank you so much for the very kind words, though I'm not sure I'm deserving of such high praise. I think you are amazingly talented yourself! I'm a big fan of your work! :) You'll have to let me know what you think of the classes. I know I certainly have learned a lot. Jrask from Pasadena, United Statesnice shot Melissa, it has a vintage feel...makes me want to watch The Sandlot or something :) 23 Jul 2008 5:36pm @Jrask: Thank you so much, Josh. I love The Sandlot, too. :) Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesWhat a terrific image, Melissa ... I really like that both the boy and his dog are not acknowledging the camera ... super sweet shot. Is that a little warm reflected light on the side of his face? 23 Jul 2008 11:07pm @Ron: Thanks, Ron! Nope, no reflector, just natural light. This session was shot around 7pm. The light was still a bit strong, but they had a beautiful wooden area that helped diffuse the light. I always have my reflectors handy, but that evening I got lucky and didn't need them. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesThey seem to have similar expressions. Some people observe that dog owners seem to share certain similarities with their pets. I wish it were true in my case because my dog is fabulously handsome. 23 Jul 2008 11:16pm @Twelvebit: I've heard that before...if that's the case, I'm in trouble. :P Mandy Provan from Johannesburg, South AfricaI like this one too - they both look a bit unhappy at being in pictures!! hahahah, they make a great pair...they look very happy to have the company 24 Jul 2008 5:41pm danthro from Suburbia, United Statesi love everything about this shot except the angle and pose seem a little awkward, which you explained in the next day's shot. funny, the dog seems more comfortable posing than the boy, though he seems like a sweet kid. i don't always like that vintage look in the processing here, i think it's often over done, but you did it well, especially like the processing of the light and colors on the boy himself. 25 Jul 2008 6:28pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesYou're not saying you have an ugly dog are you? Because the beagle you posted the other day looks magnificent and I've never seen a lab that wasn't handsome. 30 Jul 2008 11:27pm Edward James from Derry, United StatesSuch an awesome dog. 31 Jul 2008 9:16pm @Edward James: That is very sweet of you to say. I love labs, too. My parents always had labs when I was growing up. They are just so sweet natured, unselfish, and very expressive. I have an eight yr old black lab that is 94 pounds of pure love who thinks he's a lapdog. He's definitely my boy; don't know what I'd do without him. |
